Make America Great Again

Why They’re Not Nazis

As I recall, it all started when things at the Charlottesville protest got out of hand back in August of 2017.  Violence erupted between protesters and anti-protesters, and several people were injured.  Eventually, one guy snapped and rammed his car into a crowd.  He was sentenced for murder the other day; he got life-plus, which is a very good thing.

The word “Nazis” was floating around all through the summer during a wave of Confederate monument removals and cemetery vandalism, but it was the day after the killing that it became widespread.  The driver had expressed pro-Nazi sentiments on social media and a handful of neo-Nazis were at the protest.  Donald Trump had (more…)

Dead On Arrival: Trump’s Budget

Once again the headlines are blaring alarms.  This time, the stories are (allegedly) full of news about Donald Trump’s proposed budget.

To begin with, I’d like to mention in passing that his intent to slash services is not news.  We knew it already; it’s merely him keeping his campaign promises. Which, admittedly, is unusual for politicians in general, but Mr. Trump has kept a fair number so far, so this (more…)

Wanted: Spotters And Fire Marshals

“This isn’t the state of California, it’s a state of insanity.” – General Joseph W. Stilwell

Feb. 25, 1942.  Just before 3am, the Japanese launched an air raid on the city of Los Angeles; by the end of the encounter, five men were dead and numerous injured, 1500 rounds of antiaircraft artillery had been fired and several enemy saboteurs had been arrested and turned over to the F.B.I.

This was it.  The ‘unassailable mainland’ was finally the target of Japanese bombs and all the drilling done by the raw American volunteers would be put to the test.

Only it never happened. (more…)

The President Wants Your Opinion

There’s a survey the White House has put out in advance of the President’s scheduled first address to a joint session of Congress.  Which promises to be quite a spectacle, of course; given the present antagonistic climate in D.C., I won’t be shocked if the Democrats pull some sort of horrible stunt and if the President responds with a blistering rant.

The White House has me on their mailing list.  I’ve been there for a long time; got grandfathered in from a previous administration (more…)

Make America Good For Once

I owe an explanation to my loyal readers:  I’m not going Democrat or Republican, and I’m not suddenly anti-Trump any more than I am anti-Clinton.

The reason I’m here, saying the things I’m saying, is that nobody else seems to be doing it.  CNN and Fox News have stopped reporting what is and are each now spinning absurd fictions — not, I think, because they want to sway our opinions, but because they honestly can’t come to grips with the actual truth long enough to put it into words.

And the horrifying truth is, we’re all terrified and angry and disgusted because President Donald Trump is keeping his campaign promises (more…)
